What is an Instrumentalist?
Instrumentalists are musicians who support singing of the
assembly and enhance the prayer of the Church.

What do Instrumentalists do?
Instrumentalists should assist the assembled believers to express and share the gift of faith that is within them and to nourish and strengthen their interior commitment of faith…The quality of joy and enthusiasm which music adds to community worship cannot be gained in any other way. Music can unveil a dimension of meaning and feeling, a communication of ideas and intuitions which words alone cannot yield (adapted from The Music Documents: Music in Catholic Worship and Liturgical Music Today, OCP, 1995).

Who can become an Instrumentalist?
The primary requirement is for an individual to be able to play an instrument with some degree of proficiency. Students with at least two years of musical training are welcome to be a part of this ministry. Training is provided.

What are the responsibilities of an Instrumentalist?
∙ Enhance the musical expression of the assembly
∙ Rehearse music prior to mass
∙ Attend periodic music ministry meetings
∙ Participate in ongoing musical training and faith formation
